Prophets of Da City

Cape Town’s pioneering hip hop crew, active from 1988 to 2001, made history with Our World (1990) — South Africa’s first hip hop album. Known for merging beats with activism, they used music to challenge apartheid and champion justice. Their influence endures through remixes, retrospectives, and the generations they inspire. For their unwavering commitment to activism and youth empowerment, they are being honoured with the BEA Humanitarian Award.
